Searching for new sources of strong CP violation: The X± model

A shortcoming of the Standard Model is its inability to explain the observed matter-antimatter asymmetry. A possible approach to explain the origin of such asymmetry is the search for additional sources of charge-parity (CP) violation. Violation of CP symmetry signifies that matter and antimatter are not perfectly symmetrical. In this research, two New Physics (NP) vector bosons, X±, are proposed as possible sources for strong CP violation. These particles introduce direct CP violating phases in the coupling of X- to the fermion current, and X+ to the anti-fermion current. The allowed parameter space for X± is explored through the analysis of leptonic and semi-leptonic decays of B and D mesons. Decay rates are calculated at the tree level using the FeynCalc package in Mathematica. The results are presented as exclusion plots, displaying the possible ranges of the physical parameters associated to the X± particles.
