Dazed Under the Floodwater is a subtly dystopian science-fiction novel set approximately fifty years in the future. It is from the point of view of Chelse, a recent university graduate who is given a single summer to start a life of her own in an unforgiving world ravaged environmentally and economically by unchecked capitalism. During this time, Chelse becomes a patient/participant in the final trial for a device called the Morpheus which records the dreams of patients for use in “dream therapy” sessions, while sorting through her past and trying to conceive of a future.
