Acadia University Class Banners

Acadia University Class BannersThis set of digital photographs depicts many of the banners created by the Classes of 1920 through to 2006. The actual banners are the property of the Associated Alumni of Acadia University and are preserved in the Esther Clark Wright Archives.

The Class Banner is a tradition at Acadia University. Each graduating class creates a banner as a visual representation of the class' experience at the University with a slogan that captures the essence of that experience. During Convocation, the banner is formally unveiled at the Grad Banquet and hangs at the ceremony. The banner is also present at the class' reunion events.

Over the summer of 2006, staff in the Archives took a digital image and created a brief description of each banner. These descriptions include information about the physical banner, such as the material used, its colour, its shape with dimensions, and inscriptions.

Original records are held at and available through the Esther Clark Wright Archives.
